I am in the Churchill Hospital in Oxford. I was admitted yesterday following the failure of my Fistula.
Last night a temporary line was fitted to my groin so I could undertake dialysis. They did two and a half hours dialysis. Today they plan to do four more hours dialysis.
Also today they plan to do an operation to repair if possible the fistula. This will involve an operation under local anaesthetic which will open up the vein and attempt to remove the clot using a bubble. If successful the fistula will be give time to rest and mature, before I can use it again.
Next Friday I will be back in Oxford to have a line fitted to my chest which will then be used for dialysis in the immediate future.
Last time I had the operation under general anaesthetic but this time it will be local. I can’t say I’m looking forward to the procedure.
Hopefully things will go well and they will let me out of hospital for Christmas. It’s going to be a long day.
