Under Attack!

The phrase “it never rains but it pours” describes the current situation in my family at the moment. This blog post is a bit different as it concerns not just me but many of those in my family. It would be true to say we are under attack. For those of you who share my Christian Faith and who can pray please do so in the coming days. I have kept names and locations anonymous for privacy. If you know me directly you possibly know these individuals by name but please respect their anonymity in any comments.

Readers of this blog will know my own journey and the issues brought about by Myeloma in 2017. The legacy is a poorly functioning kidney which is firmly in End Stage Decline. I await dialysis on the 22/12/21, meanwhile sleeplessness, nausea, infernal itching are the main symptoms.

However, it is not only I who is currently unwell. In early September my brother-in-law had a bleed on the brain that left him comatose for several weeks. Although now discharged from hospital he remains severely incapacitated needing significant support from his wife and family.

At the beginning of December my mother was rushed into hospital with breathing difficulties caused by a pneumothorax (air outside the lungs. A week on she is improving but still has a hole in the lung through which air is escaping and a collapsed lung. Doctors will need to decide on whether an operation is necessary, but this will mean moving hospitals. As I found when I was in hospital myself earlier in the year – many fellow patients can be extremely trying – some with dementia- Mum is having to deal with all that on her ward too, which is not pleasant.

Yesterday my Father-in-Law was rushed to hospital with chest pains – diagnosed as Atrial Fibrillation (AF). He is being kept in under observation overnight. His condition is no worse but he has a history of heart issues.

On top all this our car has ‘died’. Fixing would require an engine replacement which would be worth more than the car. We may be able to get a temporary repair but truth we need a new car before Christmas which is no mean feat!

It would be nice to hope that 2022 will run more smoothly. Nonetheless my faith tells be God is with me in all of this. I am not alone.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear all of this, I am praying for you all at this time. I was reading Psalm 138 this morning, may you know this truth: I bow before your holy Temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name. As soon as I pray, you answer me;
    you encourage me by giving me strength…
    Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand, and the power of your right hand saves me. The Lord will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.

  2. May the Lord make his presence and love known to you and Anita and each family member. Come Heavenly Father with your healing and hope. Amen
