Noises in the Night

Tick, click, whoooooooo

The clock

The drip

The air filtration unit

It’s constant, rhythmic noise

Not easy to sleep with all this racket

Whoooooooo, Tick, Click, Whoooooooo

Whoooooooo, Tick, Click, Whoooooooo

Whoooooooo, Tick, Click, Whoooooooo

Tick

The clock marking time

Tick

Reminding me that it’s late

Tick

Counting the seconds

Tick

One by one

Click

The drip

Click

Pumping saline

Click

Relentlessly into my body

Click

Forcing periodic trips to the loo

Click

Even more than usual

Whoooooooo

The air filtration unit

Whoooooooo

Squeezing air out

Whoooooooo

Through the crack of the door

Whoooooooo

Another necessary evil

Whoooooooo

The sound

Whoooooooo

A demented vacuum cleaner

Whoooooooo

A never ending carpet sweep

Whoooooooo

Three rooms away

Whoooooooo, Tick, Click, Whoooooooo

Whoooooooo, Tick, Click, Whoooooooo

Whoooooooo, Tick, Beep, Whoooooooo

Whoooooooo, Tick, Beep, Whoooooooo

Beep Beep
Beep Beep
Beep Beep

Beep Beep

It’s Two Thirty Am

Beep Beep

How could I forget

Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep
Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep

Time to change the drip

Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep
Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep
Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep Beep Meep
At least there’s some respite from

Whoooooooo, Tick, Click, Whoooooooo

Whoooooooo, Tick, Click, Whoooooooo

Whoooooooo, Tick, Click, Whoooooooo

Whoooooooo, Tick, Click, Whoooooooo

  1. When I read your blog I feel what you mean. I’m from Brazil and I have hary cell leukemia. I did chemotherapy three years ago but the cells are back after this time… I will make a cirurgy next week, to take out my spleen… doctor says it will help me for a while… anyway, we must stay strong and trust in ourselves, in our treatment. I’m sure we gonna do well on this. Have my wishes , all the best, Roberto.
