A submission to this week’s photo challenge : Evanescent
Africa, my home for the past 2.5 years. A place which has a strong affinity for me. Mwanza, my home Tanzania my country for this time. Yet soon it will fade into memory. Sadly my Myeloma means I will not return.
My last footsteps were actually in Kenya where we holidayed prior to my shock diagnosis and my rapid return. These pictures from Diani Beach South of Mombasa – the evanescent wildlife surrounding Stilts Backpackers – Bushbabies, Sykes Monkeys, Colobus Monkeys and Speckled Bush Snake. Then a couple of pictures from our brief time in Kenya; evanescent as they have been swallowed up in the tornado of events in recent weeks. From a time before we knew.
Thank you for these photos. My husband and I went with our two kids ( then 8 and 10) to Kenya many years ago. I loved the wildlife . It is just not the same at the zoo. The sights and sounds of Africa will remain in my memory. I wish you all the best in your health situation. I am a survivor of colorectal cancer and an auto immune disease, Systemic Scleroderma. Never give up hope. I’m still here 18 years later!

You are taking beautiful memories with you. Best wishes for the improvement of your health. I am a breast cancer survivor (16 years) and I know that feeling of absolute shock and horror after a surprise diagnosis. Thank you for liking my WPC Evanescent post and reminding me that every day of our lives should be cherished. Keep up the good fight.
